Resources For Youth

TYFA empowers children and families by partnering with educators, service providers and communities, to develop supportive environments in which gender may be expressed and respected. We envision a society free of suicide and violence in which ALL children are respected and celebrated.

April 22, 2013 - TYFA President Shannon Garcia announces a major research study of families with transgender children: "...there is a void of research on trans youth. We have an opportunity to tap into information that we really want researchers to know about. We here at TYFA have teamed up with Seth Pardo and Colt Meier who have worked with our very own Dr. Jo Olson to create the anonymous online questionnaire for our parents to complete. High School Seniors who live life fearlessly, follow their dreams and exude our core motto and name, with scholarships."    More button

Transition:
Social transition is simply changing your outward appearance (hairstyle, clothing and outward gender expression) and your name and pronouns. There is no medical intervention involved in this type of transition and is commonly referred to as a “real life test”. It is completely reversible.
Medical transition consists of medical intervention to alter the physical/sexual characteristics of your body in order to affirm your gender identity.
