TransYouth Family Allies (TYFA) announces
Transgender Girl Scout Support Page |
|
TransYouth Family Allies (TYFA) launched this web page
in support of Girl Scouts of Colorado's decision to serve transgender children.
As you may have heard, a Girl Scout troop in Colorado recently gained national attention by accepting a seven year old transgender child. Girl Scouts of Colorado released a statement supporting trans youth, saying “If a child identifies as a girl and the child's family presents her as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout.” TYFA feels it is important to support this decision.
Girl Scouts has suggested the following ways in which you can show, through March 4, 2012, your support for inclusion of all girls:
1. Simply buy more cookies from your local Girl Scouts to support Girl Scouting in your community.
2. Make a donation to your local Girl Scout council.
3. If you want to specifically support the Girl Scouts of Colorado, you can make a general donation by clicking on this link. As you proceed through the checkout, there will be a comments box where you can note that the gift is “In honor of Bobby Montoya.”
4. If you wish to support Girl Scouts of Colorado’s Power Up program, which has new LGBT anti-bullying support throughout the curriculum, click on this link. You can donate any amount toward this program as well. |

We hope you will join TYFA in supporting Girl Scouts!
