Institute Invites Participants

May 14, 2009 - The New York State Psychiatric Institute has begun a study of Gender Identity in children and adolescents and is inviting potential participants to contact them.

The process will use a combination of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), observation of subjects' behaviors in a set of games and puzzles, and a set of questions asked of the parents about medical history, thoughts and emotions.  The test takes a total of about 5-1/2 hours.

The information gathered will be used to increase the knowledge base about the transgender phenomenon. No personally identifying information will be gathered.

If you or someone you know might be interested in participating, please review the information in the following pamphlet, and then contact the institute.

Note: the following pamphlet is in PDF form, and requires the Adobe Reader to open.  Please print it out, as it displays on the screen in a vertical orientation, and is difficult to read online.

Thank you for considering participation in this valuable study!  More button
