Darlene M. Cox
Lexington, KY

Darlene M. CoxDarlene is the mother of Heath Martin-Cox, an affirmed male, who from the age of three insisted he was a boy and not a girl. An accepting and loving mother, Darlene knew that Heath was different but her love for him was limitless, and throughout his school years she would time and again stand up to school administrators in her efforts to prevent the bullying he had to endure. Since his announcement at the age of 14 that he was transgender, Darlene has made it a point to educate and advocate for transgender and gender variant children and their families. She lives in Kentucky and is available to speak at schools, social service agencies, health care facilities, universities and conferences across the nation.
